Opare seals Besiktas loan move

Defender Daniel Opare has sealed a loan switch from Portuguese giants FC Porto to Turkey’s Besiktas for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old right back joined Porto in a free move from Belgian side Standard Liege last summer but suffered an injury during the 2014 Fifa World Cup with the Ghana national team in Brazil.

Opare’s recovery however prolonged and made him fail to compete for places in the Porto first team. He fully gained fitness not too long ago and went on to make two reserve team appearances for Porto.

Opare successfully passed his medicals and signed to a six-month loan contract with Besiktas on Wednesday.

“Opare fits our transfer policy, he is a good player, within our budget and plays a position we needed strengthening,” Bilic told Turkish-football.com reporters at his post-match press conference following Besiktas’ 4-1 win over Adana Demirspor in the Turkish Cup.

Besiktas have the option to buy Opare out of his three-year contract at the end of the 2014/15 season if he impresses.
