Boateng Gyan ‘attacks’ Kuffour over GFA position

Black Stars management committee member Yaw Boateng Gyan insists Kwesi Nyantakyi remains the best person to lead the Ghana FA despite a recent flurry of calls for the astute lawyer to step down.

Nyantakyi has come under intense pressure with recent calls from influential personalities for him to step down as President of the Ghana FA.

All electoral positions at the GFA will be up for grabs in next year’s elections and it appears the jostle for these positions have already started.

Ex Bayern Munich star Samuel Osei Kuffour has called on Nyantakyi, a lawyer by profession to leave the post he has held since 2004 for ‘lack of ideas’.

Kuffour even suggested the use of government interference to kick Nyantakyi out while damning the consequences of a FIFA ban.

But Yaw Boateng Gyan, who serves on the Black Stars management committee of which Nyantakyi is the chairman sees no better alternatives.

“I think the ideal thing to ask Sammy Kuffour is who is best placed to replace Kwesi Nyantakyi,” he told Metro FM.

“Is he [Kuffour] the best person to replace him?

“Kwesi Nyantakyi has done very well to lead Ghana football over the past ten years where we have been to three consecutive World Cups – this is unprecedented.

“The only thing is that when we went for the last World Cup, things didn’t go well and all the blame is being heaped on Kwesi Nyantakyi.

“Instead for us to find out the real problems that led to our disappointing World Cup campaign, we go around apportioning blame.

“What I want to ask Sammy Kuffour is whether he was always successful during his playing time.”
