Ghana rejects "Ebola AFCON"

Youth And Sports minister Mahama Ayariga is on his way to meet with officials of Confederation of African football (CAf) to officially pull out from the hosting of the 2015 nations Cup, DAILY GUIDE SPORTS has gathered.

The Minister’s decision comes on the heels of public outcry to decline the hosting of next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) originally scheduled for Morocco.

Ghana expressed interest in hosting 15 other nations after the pull out of original hosts Morocco and South Africa, who CAF recommended after the North Africans rejected to host the biennial soccer showpiece.

According to sources, the sports chief had flown out of the country to officially withdraw from a possible hosting of the event but he will reaffirm Ghana’s quest to host it in 2017.

Members from various groups in the country, medical, religious and other organizations have condemn Ghana’s desire to host the event which according to medical experts, has the huge tendency to bring in the deadly virus Ebola surreptitiously.
