Asamoah Gyan assures Black Stars’ victory

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan is upbeat about his side’s chances of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite a slow start to their campaign.

The Black Stars currently top qualifying Group E even though they have claimed just five points from their opening three fixtures. With a victory over Togo sandwiched in between draws against Uganda and Guinea, Ghana hold a one-point gap at the top of the standings.

On Wednesday, Gyan and his side will welcome Guinea to Tamale, and the striker is confident that his side can get the three points and continue to build a successful run to next year’s showpiece event in Morocco.

“Although we didn’t start well, I think the team is doing well and we are taking it a game at a time, this is where we have to make sure we are a united team ready to make it to the next AFCON,” the striker told Football411?s Ghana correspondent Russel Wiafe.

“We know the Guinea team, we saw how they played against us in the second half, they are a very strong side that we cannot underrate, but the team knows the implications if we fail to win the second game.

“The other teams in our group are also doing well so we have to make sure we win this game to cement our place at the top of the table.”
