NIB launches SME Banking Week

The National Investment Bank (NIB) on Monday launched the SME Banking week celebration aimed at promoting its products and services to existing and potential customers.

The celebration is on the theme: “Taking SME Business to Your Doorstep.”

Mr Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, Managing Director, NIB, speaking at the launch called on SME’s to do proper bookkeeping, since it is important to sustaining and expanding businesses.

He said without it, business owners run the risk of wasting money and missing out on opportunities to expand.

He said as part of the celebration, the Bank had dedicated time to train SME’s in book and record keeping.

“As part of the SME Week, we would visit customers at their places of work to ascertain grow of their businesses,” he added.

He said the Bank had received an award as the Best Bank in Medium and Long Term Loan Financing at the maiden edition of the West African Regional Magazine - Business and Leadership Awards 2014 held in Brussels, Belgium.

Mr Agbesi said the recognition was in respect of the Bank's contribution to the development of numerous successful industrial projects in Ghana, through equity and debt financing for the companies.

He said the Award was an indication that the Bank is capable of supporting SME businesses in the country.

Mr John Asamoah, General Manager Client Service, NIB said to exhibit the Bank’s commitment to SME’s the Bank had increased its threshold from GH?50,000.00 to GH? 200,000.00.

He said the Bank had also established an SME centre solely for SME banking.
