MUSIGA supports aged musicians

Fifty aged musicians in the Ashanti Region have, through the national executive of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), received cash amounts from the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWEF).

About 110 musicians are registered nationwide with AMWEF and a similar donation was made to those residents in Accra earlier this year.

The Kumasi presentation took place at the Cultural Centre. The musicians who collectively received GH¢5,000 included Agya Koo Nimo, Awura Ama Badu, Osei Vasco, Nana Yepemso, Atakora Manu, Teacher Boakye Dankwa, Akonoba J.K., Osenkafo, Prof. Kofi Abraham, Kaakyire Badu and Adusei Poku.

The AMWEF is part of the AJUMAPA project of MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffour. It is an initiative to support aged musicians and those who become incapacitated in the course of their careers.

According to MUSIGA’s Head of Administration, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, the beneficiary musicians expressed gratitude for the union’s effort to seek their welfare.

At the recent MUSIGA Grand Ball held at the State House in Accra to raise funds for AMWEF and the MUSIGA Academy, over GH¢ 50,000 was realised from an auction and a raffle draw.
