Beninois fleeing Ivory Coast in car crash

A group of 51 Beninois fleeing the political crisis in the Cote D'Ivoire were involved in an accident on the Nkrankwanta-Dormaa Ahenkro road when the bus on which they were travelling ran into a ditch.

Mr Aaron Ampaabeng-Kyereme, deputy district co-ordinator of NADMO, who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said there were, however, no casualties.

He said the Beninois were returning to their home country through Ghana when the accident occurred.

All efforts would be made to convey them to the Aflao border to enable them to continue the journey, he said.

Meanwhile, the St. Francis des Sales Catholic Parish Church at Dormaa Ahenkro and one Alhaji Ali, a Ghanaian businessman, have donated 300,000 cedis and some food items to the refugees who are currently being cared for at the police station.

Mr Joseph Allaye, one of the refugees, who received the items, thanked the donors for the gesture.
