Ben Koufie confirms Kwesi Appiah approach

Ben Koufie has confirmed that he has been approached by Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to be his technical adviser and the legendary coach says he is keen on taking up the post.

The Black Stars coach was asked to suggest one person to be named the technical adviser in the Ghana FA bid to boost the technical department of the Ghana national team.

This comes after the GFA set up a three-man committee to name an astute coach to aid the Black Stars manager to improve the fortune of the Black Stars in the wake of a disastrous showing at the World Cup.

Koufie’s name came in as a surprise as many were expecting a foreign coach to take up the mantle to help Kwesi Appiah in improving the Black Stars.

With the committee set to name the person to take charge of the team, Koufie says even though he is yet to be confirmed for the post, the experienced coach says Kwesi Appiah has approached him.

“Anyway I haven’t heard it but what I know is that the committee will meet today,” Koufie told Kessben FM when asked whether the committee has contacted him following Appiah approach.

“I’m ready to help him (Kwesi Appiah) on that. Why not he’s a personal friend. He asked to be his technical director and I told him I’ll do it.”

The three-member committee will present its report to the Executive Committee this week before the technical adviser is named.
