Frank Andoh says his grey hair is affecting his career

Goalkeeper Frank Andoh, says his grey hair is becoming a hindrance to his football career adding that sometimes supporters hoot at him, thinking he is an old man.

Andoh who once played in the national U-17, 20 and 23 teams, said coaches and football administrators were unwilling to hire his services as they were often deluded by his grey hair which they considered to be a sign of old age.

A very worried Andoh, who helped Inter Allies survive the Ghana top flight league, disclosed that his natural grey hair which was common in his family had been his great disadvantage as people taught he was too old to play football.

He said at 25 and now an experienced keeper; he had been rejected by coaches. “We are five brothers and I am the second but we all have it, even my elder brother, who lives in Holland and all his children, who are at very tender ages, are all grey.

Coach Oti Akenten, who nurtured me at the Ashgold Academy, saw me developing grey at the time,” he revealed.

“Sometimes, supporters hoot at me, thinking I’m too old to be playing with kids and, in fact it got to a time I had to dye my hair but my wife kicked against it and even ended in a quarrel,” he told state owned Graphic Sports in an interview at his Obuasi base.
