MoFA, GHA, absent at Judgment Debt sitting

There was no show at the Judgement Debts Commission’s sitting on Wednesday in Accra due to the failure of representatives of two state institutions to appear before it.

They are the Chief Director or his accredited representative of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or his accredited representative of Ghana Highway Authority (GHA).

Briefing the media, Mr Kofi Dometi Sokpor, Counsel of the Commission said the accredited representative of MoFA was out of the jurisdiction of the Commission and, therefore, the sitting has been rescheduled to July 10.

He explained that the Chief Director was to brief the Commission on the issue of judgement debt payment to Delta Foods Company Limited.

He said the office of the CEO of the GHA was served with a notice to appear before the Commission two weeks ago, but reports reaching them indicated that he had since not received it.

Mr Sokpor said the GHA is expected to furnish the Commission with copies of certificates issued to Construction Pioneers since 1992.

The Commission of Inquiry was established by President John Mahama to inquire into Judgement Debts Payments and other related matters with Mr Justice Yaw Apau as the Sole Commissioner.

Sitting has been adjourned to Thursday, July 10, 2014.
