Ghanaians refuse to see opportunities – KAMA Boss

Ghanaians complain everyday about problems not because the economy is bad, but because they have failed to take advantage of the opportunities, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kama Group of Companies, Michael Agyekum Addo has said.

Mr. Addo, who disclosed this in an interview with DAILY GUIDE after the maiden graduation of 51 trainees under the Kama Education Project Entrepreneurial Training Programme over the weekend, said there were many opportunities in the country. Such opportunities, he mentioned, had been spotted by many foreigners who troop to Ghana everyday to better their lot while the local people continue to complain.

“Why are foreigners coming in left and right?” he quizzed, adding that the high patronage of top hotels in the cities by foreigners attested to that. “When you go to the airport, the aero planes are full with foreigners, what are they coming to do?” he quizzed, adding that “the foreigners come to make use of the opportunities in Ghana.”

Touching on the current economic situation in the country, he said increases in utility tariffs, prices of petroleum, and the general high cost of living were not peculiar to Ghana.

“The current economic crisis is not peculiar to Ghana. It’s peculiar to the whole world,” he said. “Things have changed across the world and so Ghanaians now need to solve their own problems instead of complaining and doing nothing about the problems.

Earlier, in a speech, Mr. Addo called on teachers across the country to nurture entrepreneurs instead of individuals with only theoretical knowledge.

Barima Afrane, who chaired the occasion, said knowledge of entrepreneurship was necessary for one who wishes to succeed in life and become a better person.
