Sunyani labour backs TUC's ten-day ultimatum

Executives of the Sunyani Municipal Council of Labour have pledged support for the leadership of organised labour on the ultimatum to government and the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to stay implementation of the new tariffs.

This was in a statement signed by 10 members copied to the Chief Director of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council, Regional Police Commander, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive and the Media in Sunyani.

The statement reaffirmed the leadership’s proposal that the new tariffs should be in three phases from 2013, 2014 and 2015, adding that Government should stay the implementation and open a dialogue with all stakeholders.

It asked the PURC to adhere to the automatic tariff adjustment formula which was agreed upon by all stakeholders in 2010.

The statement assured leadership of the unflinching support of the Sunyani Municipal Council of Labour to any future action that might be declared by organised labour.
