I'll welcome Kingson's challenge - Dauda

Current Black Stars first choice goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says he is ready for any competition to his place in the national team when preparations towards the two-legged World Cup play-off against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

With the widely rumoured imminent return of veteran shot-stopper Richard Kingson to the Black Stars for the Egypt home-and-away tie, 90 MINUTES sought the opinion of Fatau in a short conversation from his base in South Africa.

“The game [football] is all about challenges. I left AshGold this summer for a fresher challenge here at Pirates and I’m doing all I can to snatch the first choice role here.

“I came to meet a number one [Kwarasey] at the national team, put up my best at training and got the nod and so will I continue to put my best and try to maintain the status quo.

“I’m not concerned about who comes in to challenge for the number one spot at all. The most important thing for us all [players] is to give our best in making sure Ghana qualifies to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil,” Fatau told 90 MINUTES.

Ghana hosts Egypt in a first leg 2014 World Cup qualifying play-off at the Baba Yara Stadium on October 15.
