MMT driver killed by armed robbers

Armed robbery attacks are gradually becoming a norm, disrupting the day-to-day activities of many Ghanaians. Now, Ghanaians are scared of travelling at night due to the increasing attacks of armed robbers.

A 48-year old Metro Mass Driver, Francis Ankama who was killed by armed robbers at dawn on the Obuasi-Kumasi last month, has recently been laid to rest.

At his funeral at Kokofu in the Ashanti Region, the mourners condemned the armed robbers’ act and called for more concerted actions against the perpetrators.

The armed robbers attacked the bus, shot and critically injured some passengers on board, and robbed them of mobile phones and cash. As if that was not enough, they killed the driver.

The late Mr. Ankama was survived by his wife and seven children. Metro Mass Transport bore the greater portion of the funeral expenses.

Families are traumatised when they lose a member, especially a breadwinner like Mr. Ankama.
