EDA inaugurates GH¢ 22,000 project

The Ekumfi District Assembly (EDA) at Essarkyir in the Central Region has provided a 10-seater vault chamber toilet facility for the people of Otabanadze.

The project, which cost GH¢ 22,000 was undertaken by Homecoming Works Limited, a local contractor between April and August, 2012, and was funded from the Assembly’s District Development Fund (ADDF).

The inauguration of the project by the District Chief Executive for the area, Mr Ibrahim Dawson coincided with a grand durbar of chiefs and people to climax the annual weeklong Akwanbo festival at Otabanadze.

Mr Dawson gave the assurance that the Assembly would be fair to all in the allocation of development projects, adding that, the district capital would soon be provided with a National Health Insurance Scheme office to save the people from travelling to Saltpond and Mankessim for health services.

Other projects in the pipeline include the supply of electricity to every community in the district as well as the provision of pipe-borne water and boreholes.

Mr Dawson announced that the Assembly has already put place measures to offer scholarships to brilliant but needy students to continue their education at the Senior High School level.

He advised the people to unite and live in peace to complete all development projects to better their living standards.

Present at the ceremony was the former Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Kuntu Blankson, who urged the people to give their maximum support to the new Assembly to make it viable.

He praised the people for their foresight in raising funds to provide teachers’ bungalows and other projects.

Mr Samuel K. Tachie, Assembly member for the area, on behalf of the chiefs and people, expressed appreciation to members present for contributing in diverse ways to support the project. A total of GH¢ 17,800 was realized at the function.
