Gyan's form shows UAE League is strong

Australia forward Alex Brosque has defended the standards of the UAE Pro League using the recent performances of his Al Ain team-mate Asamoah Gyan for the Black Stars of Ghana as a reference point.
Most players who have moved to UAE league and its environs have been criticized for opting for sub-standard leagues in the name of huge salaries.
Gyan’s move to the UAE also generated a similar debate in Ghana as most people wondered why he left the EPL for UAE in his peak.
But Brosque believes talks about the poor standards of the league in UAE are unfair.
The 29-year-old has played down assertions that the UAE league is not any competitive league.
"My team-mate Asamoah Gyan still plays regularly for Ghana and he is their captain.
"In fact he has played for them in their World Cup qualifiers.
"So if a player manages to stay at a certain level I do not see coming here as a bad thing,” the 29-year-old told Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service.
The injured Brosque was in the Socceroos squad for their three World Cup qualifiers in June.
He joined Al Ain last season and has scored 13 goals in 28 appearances.
