Finance Ministry to clean up ‘ghost names’

The Finance Ministry in collaboration with the Public Services Commission will soon establish a Human Resource Management System to clean ghost names and improve the payroll system in Ghana.

Finance Minister, Seth Tekper said the electronic system will enable the government to identify public institutions that are overstaffed and inefficient.

Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Tekper said government is working hard to block the wastage in the system.

He explained that, “The system used to be there but it was ran in manual form but we want to make it electronic so we can link it to the pay rolls.

"This will help us to know which institutions are overstaffed, in some cases to allow redeployment in areas where they are actually needed”.

Mr. Tekper also said government is committed to addressing the many challenges facing the private sector.

He added he would this week meet local contractors to address government’s indebtedness to them.
