Nana Akufo-Addo home

The 2012 Flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party arrived in Ghana from his two-week UK trip yesterday.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo went for what his press aide and party officials described as “engagements and a medical checkup”.

His trip has been mired in a lot of rumours, gossip and controversy.

There were media reports that suggested he suffered a heart attack before flying out of the country.

His death was also rumoured on social media site Facebook.

The Party refuted all those claims.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s return was without fanfare though as the Party’s Leadership urged its supporters not to throng the Airport to welcome their former Flagbearer.

That decision was put down to what the party says were intelligence gathered on the ground, suggesting that gathering at the Airport in droves to welcome Nana Akufo-Addo will not be in the interest of the party.

A horde of Party Leaders and Supporters are, however, expected to throng Akufo-Addo’s Accra residence today to welcome him.
