Irate NPP mob bay for Tarzan’s blood

Angry supporters of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, on Friday, literally bayed for embattled party stalwart, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey’s blood, when they attempted vandalising his car and pouncing on him at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

The irate supporters thronged the headquarters to lay an ambush for Dr. Wereko-Brobbey, who was scheduled to meet the disciplinary committee over his recent description of the party’s 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a “clueless” and confused witness in the ongoing election petition.

It took former Presidential Aspirant Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a member of the party’s disciplinary committee, to calm the unnerved party supporters who were so determined to hound Dr. Wereko-Brobbey out of the premises.

There were also a few violent incidents at the headquarters among rival supporters, which resulted in the knifing of a man believed to be a bodyguard.

Other members of the disciplinary committee who met Dr. Wereko-Brobbey on Friday include former Attorney General Nii Ayikoi Otoo; former Defence Minister and brother to former President John Kufuor, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor and former fisheries minister Gladys Asmah.

Dr.Wereko-Brobbey, popularly known as Tarzan was suspended by the Party’s National Executive Council following his latest criticism.

He has since rendered an unqualified apology to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
