Mahama assures Asantehene of security in Kumasi

President John Mahama has given Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II the strongest assurance criminal activities in Kumasi will soon be over.

The president says the security agencies are on top of the situation and are currently dealing with them.

He was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Asantehene at the Flagstaff House.

Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti Region has in recent days seen a number of violent attacks some of which have resulted in deaths.

The attacks have led to some sense of insecurity in the area.

President Mahama took advantage of the visit by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to reassure him of the efforts by the security personnel to ensure law and order is in the capital.

The Ashanti King is in Accra with a delegation of chiefs for a democracy lecture organised by the NCCE.

The Otumfuo congratulated the president on his election and entreated all Ghanaians to continue supporting him so long as the Supreme Court has not said otherwise.

He also called on the government to do its best and fix the various problems bedeviling the country.

President Mahama thanked the Asantehene for his support and promised him he will do his best to ensure there is peace in Kumasi.

President Mahama also touched on the Dagbon issue and counted the continued support of the Asantehene in order to find a lasting solution to the crises.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is also visiting former President Rawlings and President Kufuor.

He will also pay a courtesy call on Nana Akufo-Addo.
