Gov't would not pay additional money for data center project

Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Communication, has said government would not pay additional money to Top Top International Engineering Limited, apart from the amount that was agreed on in a contract signed for the construction of the National Data Center.

He told the GNA in Accra that the Ghc34 million project would be completed in September, following complaints of delay in the shipment of materials into the country, by Top Top International Engineering Limited, and difficulties it was encountering with local sub contractors.

The centre if completed would be used for the preservation of national data for reference by ministries, departments and agencies, and also accommodate the Ministry of Communication and its allied agencies.

Dr Boamah said some of the agencies were operating from rented premises, which the ministry was spending much money to acquire.

He appealed to the local contractors to cooperate with Top Top International Engineering Limited, to ensure early completion of the project.

Dr Boamah gave the contractors one week ultimatum to iron out their differences with consultants, to find solutions to problems that were causing delay in the execution of the project, adding that ‘’no excuses will be accepted by contractors on the schedule for the completion of work’’.

Mr Ji Yuan, Assistant Manager of Top International Engineering Limited, Ghana, pledged that the work would be completed as scheduled, and praised the minister for his commitment to the project.
