Ya Na's Murder Suspect's Trial Halted?

The trial of the man suspected to have murdered the Ya Na Yakubu Andani now hangs in a balance. The Ghana News Agency quotes a police source as saying that the Wuako Commission has written to the police to suspend the trial because it acted ultra vires by asking that Iddrisu Jehanfo be prosecuted.

Jehanfu was arranged before court upon the orders of the Wuaku Commission investigating the clashes that led to the death of the Late Ya Na Yakubu Andani in March, this year.

The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Wuaku who gave the orders after Jehanfo had testified before the commission said at the time that the suspects’ statements were full of contradictions, and there was enough evidence to suggest that he murdered the Ya Na. But at the court’s second sitting yesterday, the case was adjourned. The prosecutor Agbeko Kraa told the court that there was a new development, which needs to be clarified. He did not however elaborate.
