We'll do everything to back Alan for WTO job - Mahama

African Heads of state are expecting former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen to get the nod as Director General of the World Trade Organization, according to President Mahama who just returned from the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government meeting.
President Mills was the first to have lobbied for Mr. Kyeremateng to take up the post.
President Mahama did same when he assumed office. The President told newsmen on arrival that Alan Kyeremanten deserves to get the nod ahead of his competitors.
“Several countries have come up with candidates and we are doing everything possible to support him [Mr. Kyerematen] to win” President Mahama said.
He added that “we had a solidified position before but Kenya came up with a candidate contrary to the position Africa had taken and got ECA [East Africa Community] to endorse their candidate but we are doing possible for Kyeremanten to emerge as winner”.
The president also said it was appropriate that Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni was endorsed as the candidate to serve the unexpired term of Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas as Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States.
