Election Petition: Nana Addo and Co. file 'further and better' particulars

Lawyers for Nana Addo and the two other petitioners contesting the 2012 general elections on Tuesday filed documents providing the Electoral Commission (EC) and President John Mahama with 'further and better particulars' regarding their petition before the Supreme Court.

The EC and President Mahama moved separate applications for 'further and better particulars' to get the court to order the petitioners to furnish them with the names and codes of the 4,709 polling stations where they (petitioners) claim there were irregularities, while the petitioners also moved their application to get the EC to supply them with the list of voters registered abroad.

In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court on Tuesday last week ordered Nana Addo’s lawyers to make this information available.

The petitioners were expected to provide particulars for the polling stations where they alleged the EC permitted voting to take place without biometric verification devices.

The court further ordered the petitioners to provide particulars of places where they alleged over-voting took place and places where similar serial numbers on pink sheets had different results.
