Former Armed Forces Commander Fights Over Land

Angry mob on Friday besieged the residence of the former General Commander of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lt. General Arnold Quainoo, over a land dispute.

The incident which occurred in the morning turned confrontational when some angry youth thronged the Adenta home of Lt. General Quainoo, claiming they are owners of the land on which he resides.

According to the former Army General, he acquired the Ashaley Botwe land some years ago to start a farm on it and has met all the legal requirements surrounding the land.

But the aggrieved youth have laid claim to the parcel of land, arguing that they legally acquired it from the appropriate authority.

Lt. General Quainoo has issued a stern warning to the youth not to dare to encroach upon the stretch of land since according to him; he is the legitimate owner of the land and therefore will not easily relinquish it to any other claimant.

He explained that the emerging litigation is a mere attempt to discredit him in order to portray him as a bad person.

According to him, he has lodged a complaint with the Adenta Police to restrain the youth from tampering with the land.

He stated: “I woke up this morning to find people pretending to be building on my land and they rushed on me as soon as I opened my gate,so I had to fire two warning shots to attempt to disperse them.”

“I don’t know if my family is safe...” he told Radio Gold.
