There is no need for supporters to rally around the supreme court in support of their leaders. The Court is for lawyers and journalists and acredited personalities. Wearing party paraphenalia and chanting songs will not help anyone.
I therefore call on all political leaders - especially those of the NDC and NPP - to call on their supporters to refrain from going to the premises of the supreme court anytime there is a sitting.

By and large, I agree with you. I however go on a tangent of noting that while we are often obsessed with elections, we are less than vigilant when it comes to management of the nation's resources. I therefore commend to participants on this site to visit the business section of the website where the following was reported on 1/28/13: "About 13 out of 26 World Bank-funded projects in Ghana that were supposed to have been completed within three to five years have run far beyond their completion dates, with some running for as long as eight to nine years, the B&FT has found. ...As a result, over US$1.5billion of funds -- out of US$2.3billion approved in total -- remains in the World Bank’s chest, waiting on implementing agencies to get their acts together."

I have read the news item. It's unfortunate that our leaders cannot put their heads together and move this nation forward, even when we have funds to execute developmental projects.
Maybe, it is high time some of us joined to form civil developmental groups that will put governments and our leaders in check. Our politicians are failing us, so such groups will be the only to salvage what is left, and oblige the politicians to work.

GNA's screaming headline sought to indicate that there was an earlier turmoil at the SC premises today but nothing in the body of the news item says so. What is the reason for the GNA to cause such a panic while there is none or some Ghanaian journalists are just bend on causing chaos in the country? This headline is extremely shameful, to say the least.

Mr. Boateng,
The headline is: Calm prevails at Supreme Court premises.
This, I'm sure, was written this way because of what happened during the first 2 sittings. at the first sitting, hundreds of party supporter flocked to the SC to "support" their leaders. The same thing happened at the second sitting, when people in NDC paraphenalia reportedly went to the SC's premises weilding canes.
It is for this reason that the reporter chose that title for his story.

In 1948, they rejected the outcome of elections after Nkrumah won 35 out of 38 areas (whilst Nkrumah was in jail with Gbedemah campaigning for him)
In 1992, they rejected the outcome of elections after Rawlings won 9 out of 10 regions.
In 1996, K4 did the honourable thing (against many of the leaders) by conceading defeat.
In 2008, they couldn't have rejected the outcome because they were in power and they couldnt have based it on anything. Therefore, they resorted to diabolic acts like planting dead bodies in the volta region, going to court on a sunday holiday, etc.
In 2012, they are rejecting the outcome of the elections after NDC won yet 8 out of 10 regions.
Can't these stupid leaders reason and realize they are just too unpopular? I don't like K4, but I think he's the most reasonable amongst the bunch of UP/NPP guys from independence till now.
He never made tribal comments, never incited or permitted anybody to incite tribes against tribes, he was largely humble and "acted" peaceful. AND HE BECAME PRESIDENT. These stupid crop of NPP leaders are just destroying everything. Tribalism and foolishness is what will put NPP in opposition for another 30 years.

Thanks for your contribution, but my call was for both sides of the political divide to "call their boys to order". What you have said of the NPP may be true. Someone may say something similar against the NDC. What is important is that we acted like civilised people and worked hand in hand to develop this nation of ours.
Maybe it is time we learnt that accusations and counter accusations will lead us nowhere.

How on earth could any serious patriotic party set such an unenviable precedence for our democracy.; Supreme court after every election.
In every election, there will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be issues. When the issues become so grave in the public eye, then we seek the courts, not when the whole entire world saw a peaceful, fair election.
An election where no party's polling agent was denied the right to guard the ballot for his party. An election where all parties had "responsible" men of choice in the EC strong room and EVERYWHERE collation took place. An election with transparent boxes, a second line of security called biometric verification. WHAT THE HELL WILL "SENSIBLE" MEN BE DOING IN COURT AFTER LOOSING SUCH AN ELECTION?
Now, in every election, no matter how fair it is, believe me, the Supreme court will be the brought in by the loosing party. Thats the precedence NPP has now set for our democracy.

For as long as all political leaders learn to control their utterances and their supporters, and avoid violence, let them petition as many times as they want. Ghanaians, in general, are very discerning and are gradually learning to punish bad politicians.
Some of us know what the rukes were and how the elections were conducted. Anytime we had the chance, let's educate and explain issues in a peaceful manner to our brothers and sister, friends, and colleagues. If we do that, the truth will dawn on many an ignorant.
Personally I have discussed the elections in taxis with angry taxi drivers, in bars, and at other social meetings wherever someone brought it up. Slowly, gradually, the truth will be known, but in the meantime, let's maintain the peace and development.

This shows that Ghanaians are law abiding citizens. I hope our politicians will work together like our great black star team. Our politicians should note that anytime black star plays home or overseas, all Ghanaians despite of our tribal, religion, and political differences, we all get together as one nation and support our team. This tells me that Ghanaians will never go to war like Kenya, Liberia, and Sierra Leone as some of our politicians claim. We will never fight for any politician for his or her selfish interest. NPP and NDC politicians are all the same. We need Ghanaians living abroad to form a new political party to redeem Ghana from this mess that npp and ndc are creating in our beloved country.
