The writer is making so much sense it is frightening. Change is not a desirable in Ghana and trust me the reactions you will get from calling a spade a spade, will be laughable to say the least. In Ghana the truth hurts (literally) and so it must be avoided. Listedn this, one would expect street naming to be a priority for the Mayor of Accra. No, his priority is to drive street hawkers off the streets. catch my drift? Important tings don't matter in Ghana. What matters is what will win votes!

Well, it's not a matter of Ghanaians residing out can do a lot. Most of our problems could be solved with common sense even if you've not stayed outside.
For instance, the AMA boss, Vanpii, has spent most of his life in the US. Yet he can't initiate plans to lift our capital to near international standard. Moreover, how many Ghanaian Embassies in the developed countries have come home with the experienced they've had to suggest to the gov't this is what I learnt during my stay and we can give it a try to lift our nation??????
All, they know is how to get loans and take percentage.Nation building goes with common sense that's why we are still lacking so many things despite our huge resources.

I am willing to bet that most tourists do not return for a second visit. Everytime I have to visit Ghana, I groan at the prospect and anticipate an urgent departure. All of the improvement suggestions in this article would be deeply appreciated. As a technology consultant to the Ghana government, I seriously doubt if any of these suggestions will ever come about. Talking to an MP, or Cabinet Member is like talking to a wall.

That not withstanding,is a shame that we have this in Ghana in particular the common sense of doing things. When you talk they call u names and brand you a white man. where as developed nations are thinking decades ahead and into the next generation, we are rather thinking centuries backwards. In fact, i had a shocked of my life when i asked a Phd research student his thoughts on Ghana's development. He emphatically stated that "Ghana cannot develop".Perhaps this is what he saw in Ghana after visiting. Is sad.Sorry guys to say that from a careful study, assessment and analysis of past and current development of Ghana, the picture seems bleak for even generations yet unborn. The black man appeared to be created the way he behaves. That should be the reference point of the discussion. Indeed, until, we change ourselves, God will not change us.This is the decree from supreme being. Guys, sit down quietly, think deeply and look around you, do comparison of both isles (black vrs white)and draw your own conclusion.

I was born a Ghanaian some 40 years ago but now carry a Danish passport because I have lived here for the most part of my life. Like many Ghanaians in the same position living in the Scandinavian, we have been paying an increase in visa fees because the mission claims it needs to automate it's system. For months now, the Embassy has shown itself to be made up of cheats by taking us for a ride. We still download forms and submit them handwritten. The mission's website died on the someday Pro Mills passed on.The news on the site has never changed since the ex-President died. Those responsible must be called to account for the monies they are collecting. Shame on you.A visit to www.ghanaembassydk says it all.

Well put, though Frank could have mentioned a major constraint - the fact that Ghana requires a visa in advance, which must be obtained with an invitation letter. What international tourist, let alone a business traveler, wants to bother with this pointless exercise in frustrating people. If the country wants to invite tourists, then let them obtain a visa on arrival in an orderly fashion and at reasonable cost.
