The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency in Ashanti, Mr Reo Addai Basoah 68, is dead.

He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday July 30, after a short illness of being on admission for three days.

The late Basoah was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee in 1997 when he first entered Parliament.

Mr Atta Sarpong, a Spokesman for the Ekuona Family of Kumawu Besoro, who informed the GNA, said funeral arrangements would be announced later.

He said Parliament has been informed through the First Deputy Speaker, Mr Freddie Blay as well as the leadership of the NPP.

The late Basoah in the last Parliamentary Election won on the ticket of the ruling NPP with 57.8 per cent of the vote to beat six other contestants for the Kumawu seat.
