I’ll Accept Results - Mahama

President Mahama Pledges, Demand Same of Akufo Addo, Others

In a highly spirited anticipation for victory in Friday’s general election, President John Dramani Mahama has appealed to presidential candidates of other political parties to accept the outcome of the election as he will also do same in the event he is rejected at the polls.

According to the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, elections are as good as accepting the results and that people should be civil enough to claim victory or defeat to give the Ghanaian democracy a plus.

President Mahama, who was presenting a peace message to the Presidential Press Corps at the Castle, Osu, called on leaders of all political parties to educate their supporters against anything that could undermine the peace and unity of the country.

He said: “Ghana has organized five previous successful elections, and there should not be any reason why this year’s election should not be successful.”

President John Mahama noted that the “voice of the people, they always say is the voice of God and I know that once you have all spoken, you have done that for God to act on and I expect that none us the presidential candidates should reject the will of God.”

He called on all the other President candidates to advise their supporters to resist any act that could escalate into violence and other forms of disturbances in Fridays election saying “we NDC members are well prepared to win the general elections and we therefore do not need to do anything that will derail the forward march to victory, but in the unlikely event that we are not given the mandate to continue with the Better Ghana agenda, we will support anybody who is elected president.”

He further appealed to all Ghanaians to rally behind whoever emerges as the winner of Friday’s election to ensure peace and unity in the country.

“I am very sure God’s favor will allow all of us to smile at the end of the general elections and to rally behind the winner,” he concluded.
