We will resist all cheating tactics- Karbo

Anthony Abayifa Karbo has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will work to ensure that it is not cheated in next week’s general election.

In an interview with Citi Fm in Accra, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Lawra Constituency said party followers have been instructed to be vigilant on the day of voting.

Karbo stressed: “nobody is going to be cheated in this election; we don’t accept cheating in our society and even in democracy cheating cannot be accepted, and that is why we are not going to allow anybody to cheat us.”

He made the comment in response to reports of the outbreak of violence in Ashtown in Kumasi on Thursday evening.

He continued that the NPP was aware of the ill-intentions of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rig the impending elections.

“I believe that the Ashanti Region, being the bedrock of our party, must stand firm, the people who fought for the Ashanti Kingdom are members of our tradition and they have fought for an illustrious kingdom. One that respects human dignity, one that abhors cheating and we in the NPP will certainly abhor cheating.”

“We are going to be vigilant like the former President Rawlings had advised and that we will protect the ballot, every inch of the ballot with our last breathe. That is how far we can go to protect our democracy and to protect our country. We will do that for the New Patriotic Party and Nana Akufo-Addo in this year’s elections,” Karbo intimated.
