Yamoah Ponkoh Slaps Driver

AFRIFA YAMOAH Ponkoh, the controversial Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu/Juaben, is in the news again for the wrong reasons as he is alleged to have traded slaps with a driver of the assembly over money last Sunday.

The outspoken MCE reportedly slapped the driver, Bismarck Adjei, who he had sent on an errand after he demanded a change which the driver refused to produce.

Adjei, according to reports, became irritated after receiving the slap from the well-built former football administrator. He was compelled to retaliate in a brutal fashion by slapping the MCE twice in the face.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the driver’s slap was heavier than that of Yamoah Ponkoh who started bleeding profusely from the nose and mouth, making him dizzy instantly.

The unpleasant spectacle was said to have occurred in the presence of the Municipal Coordinating Director of the assembly and other people who rushed in on time to save the MCE from the pugnacious driver.

The driver of the assembly was reportedly sent to the police station and detained on Sunday but was given a bail on Monday.

So far, all reports emerging indicated that indeed the feud between the MCE and the driver was triggered following a misunderstanding over an amount of GH¢20. But where the fight took place is still unknown.

Whilst some sources alleged that the exchange of the slaps occurred at the MCE’s office, others claimed that the battle indeed took place at the official residence of Yamoah Ponkoh.

Also not clear is what actually triggered the fight between the MCE and the driver.

Some people alleged that Yamoah Ponkoh gave the driver GH¢20 to take his car to the washing bay and the driver, upon returning, refused to give the change to the MCE.

Others also claimed that Yamoah Ponkoh gave the driver money to buy an item for him when they travelled to Accra recently and when he (Yamoah) demanded his change later, Driver Adjei refused to give it to him.

The MCE reportedly kept his cool until Sunday when he demanded his change from the driver who again refused to produce the money, forcing him to slap him instantly.

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE gathered that Adjei, who was given bail last Monday, was re-arrested on Thursday by the police in Kumasi because he had failed to report himself in accordance with the bail conditions.

Sources said that he would soon be prosecuted.
