Families Not Reporting Dead Relatives – EC Officials

Family members are not reporting the death of their deceased relatives to Exhibition Officials for the Electoral Commission (EC) to expunge their names from the voter register.

Officials at most polling stations in Kumasi told DAILY GUIDE that they were yet to receive reports on the death of relations.

The various exhibition officers that spoke to the paper last Saturday attributed the development to the lack of education about the exhibition exercise.

They said most people had failed to complete complaints forms to challenge the eligibility of certain people perceived to be minors and foreigners.

Most of the exhibition officers also complained about the low turnout.

At the Odumase Kwa Panin Poling station at Ash Town in the Manhyia Constituency, Esther Boateng, the Exhibition Officer, said on the eighth day, 576 out of the total of 776 people had visited the center check their details.

Ms Boateng was unsure whether the remaining 200 people would visit the centre to ascertain their details.

She said nobody had visited the polling station to report the death of a relation to the officers.
