Chris Akumey: The intelligence of Amissah-Arthur intimidated MPs

Chris Akumey, a legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal committee, says the “intelligence and humility” of the Vice Presidential nominee “overwhelmed” members of the appointment committee.

Speaking on an Accra based radio station on Monday, the legal luminary was emphatic that the outstanding performance of Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur could only stifled the MPs from asking further questions.

“The MPs were completely dumfounded because the man (referring to Mr. Amissah-Arthur) was too brilliant and he dealt with almost all the questions with ease. And that left the MPs with no further questions, except to throw at him harmless questions,” Lawyer Akumey stated.

He, on that score, urged a section of the public who were agitated by the kind of questions posed to Mr. Amissah-Arthur by the MPs, to calm down because they had no option than to throw at him softer questions.

Lawyer Akumey had kicked against the decision of the Appointment Committee to vet the Vice Presidential nominee.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur’s performance has generally been lauded in the media when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Monday.

He seized the occasion to pledge his relentless support to President John Dramani Mahama in manning the affairs of the nation, if endorsed by the Parliament, and therefore, thanked the party and the President the recognition.**
