Hearts want referee Plato sanctioned

Accra Hearts of Oak has called on the Match Review Panel of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to review the match officials for their Week 28 clash against Berekum Chelsea last Thursday.

Berekum Chelsea won the match 2-1 but the Phobians are complaining about the performance of referee Ali Musa Plato and his assistant Richard Appiah, which saw them rule the hosts last gasp winner.

A statement signed by Ashford Tettey Oku, General Manager of the club, copied to GNA Sports said Plato and Appiah “conspired to mete out a grave injustice to our club by awarding a goal scored from a glaring offside position."

It added that Plato has dished out similar ordeals to them in five previous matches since 2008.

“We are even more embittered when one looks at the character of Ali Musah Plato who continues to demonstrate so much incorrigibility that, two previous sanctions by the Match Review Panel this season alone are still not deterrent enough. Indeed, his is the proverbial dead goat which does not fear a knife.

It also appealed to the panel to review the second caution for Prince Attakora Gyimah, which saw the latter being sent off.

“We would be grateful if the Match Review Panel would review the second caution given to Attakora Gyimah after a different person appeared to have fouled a Chelsea attacker for their equalizing penalty.”

It concluded that, such injustices tend to discourage people from investing in football and also has the potential to create violence at the various stadia.**
