Swedru Yariwa Zongo NDC supporters renew their appeal for a road

Supporters of Agona Swedru Yariwa Zongo branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have re-echoed their appeal to the government to construct a road linking the community to the main Swedru town.

They have also called for the construction of an additional classroom block to help ease the ongoing shift system at the local holy Quran Basic schools.

Mr Khili Shabaa, NDC Youth Leader at Yariwa Zongo, made the appeal when Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Samuel Oppong, Presiding Member of Agona West Assembly and Kwesi Lincoln, Agona West Constituency Chairman of the Party met them on Friday at Swedru.

According to Mr Shabaa “the area was not given any development project during the former regime because they were described as “NDC strong hold”.

“It is therefore very painful that they have not seen any project under the government which they suffered for it”.

He said despite their support to the NDC their request for the construction the road and the school are yet to be fulfilled, adding that if their requests are not met, it would be very difficult to ask them to vote the NDC during the 2012 general elections.

He regretted that the chiefs, Assembly member and supporters of the Party taught when the NDC came to power in 2009 things would changed but nothing had occurred.

The Youth Leader said the NDC promised them the construction and tarring of the road linking Mandela Market to Yariwa Zongo, construction of additional classroom block and modern toilet facility.

He said several appeals have been sent to the leaders to try at least fulfill one of the promises but things of that sort had been achieved.

Mr Hidir Osumanu, Abusuapanyin of Yariwa Zongo expressed regret about the continuing shifting system at Holy Quran Basic schools.

He said the system was seriously affecting the academic performance of their children and appealed to the MCE and Agona West Assembly to come to their aid.

Mr Tetteh assured the supporters that he would send the Engineer of the Assembly to assess the road and forward a report to Cape Coast High Ways Authority for immediate action.

He therefore asked supporters to exercise restraint because the government under President Mills would never turn its back to them.

Mr Oppong also assured the supporters at Yariwa Zongo that NDC's Better Ghana Agenda would never fail them and should continue to support President Mills and Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom to win the elections the presidential and parliamentary elections respectively.**
