The Clergy should not use pulpit for politics- Dr Tetteh

Dr Lawrence Tetteh, a UK-based International Evangelist, at the weekend asked the Clergy not to use their pulpits to executive their political agenda, which tend to divide the nation and stir unnecessary controversy.

He said as keepers of the “vineyard of the Lord,” the Clergy should at all times be sensitive and mindful of what they say on the pulpit especially as the nation prepares for Election 2012.

Dr Tetteh President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach headquartered in the UK was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra ahead of a “Ghana For Christ Crusade”, which starts at the Accra Sports Stadium from Thursday March 22- March 24 at 1800 hours each day.

Dr Tetteh, who is hosting the event, which marks his 25th anniversary of his ministerial work, would be assisted by Reverend Paul Naughton of the Benny Hinn Ministries of the UK.

He spoke against false prophecies by the men and women of God, who seeks to please political leaders, saying what every Ghanaian should expect from the Clergy are acts that would ensure a peaceful, free and fair elections to keep the enviable record of Ghana as a bastion of democracy in Africa.

Dr Tetteh spoke against the culture of insults in the national discourse especially issues involving politics, and asked the media to blacklist personalities who are fond of using foul language in public.

He said most conflicts were sparked by reckless talk, which was given space by the media.

“The success of Ghana largely depends on Ghanaians and not outsiders. As good citizens, we should always take a clue from conflicts in neighbouring countries,” he said.**
