Daily Guide Lies Again

As Attempts To Discredit The IGP Backfires

Investigative Desk Report

Madam Gina Blay and her Daily Guide have once again received a knock, following attempts to run-down the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, to the advantage of their political paymasters.

Having notoriety for churning out lies and publishing of falsehood, Madam Blay and her newspaper hit the rock when without verification, they decided to attack the IGP, and to create the impression as if he is insensitive to the welfare of his men.

Displaying their usual hatred for the IGP, and working very hard to ridicule all his painstaking efforts of re-branding the Ghana Police Service into a standard acceptable by all, the Daily Guide on Monday, November 14, 2011, under the captioned “KOMBIAN’S COP IN CRITICAL CONDITION” , in a complete fabrication, stated that the only surviving police officer, Lance Corporal Osei Bonsu, who was part of the group that arrested the notorious criminal, Johnson Kombian has been neglected and left to his destiny, as a result of serious bullet wounds sustained during their operation.
Contrary to the Daily Guide’s false assertion that Lance Corporal Osei Bonsu has been left to luck and could joined his ancestors at “asamando” anytime soon following the inability of the IGP and his administration, in taking good care of him, investigations conducted reveal otherwise.
It came to light during our in-depth search that, soon after the incident happened, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, very much concerned about the welfare of his men , on behalf of the Police administration made available an amount of Ten Thousand Pounds (£10,000) for the treatment of the policeman; and further directed that all subsequent medical expenses be absorbed by the service.
It was also gathered during our investigations that, the IGP was very particular about the fast recuperation of the cop, in addition to the Expatriate Doctor, who has so far performed two surgical operations on the policeman, has also hired the service of a psychologist who visits him to attend to his psychological needs on regular basis, to enhance his speedy recovery.
However, the IGP expressed total shock when this paper reached him via telephone to ascertain the veracity of the Daily Guide’s publication.
According to him, the Police administration, right from day one of the incident has supported the young-man and as well has been in constant touch with the family to ensure that all his needs are catered for, indicating that the said publication was a pure mischief and nothing to write home about.
“I personally directed that the cop be transferred from the Police Hospital to the 37 Military Hospital for an intensive medical examination to be administered to him”, so where is the neglect, he asks and says he will not be distracted, but will remain focused to carry on with his vision.
He, therefore, entreats the media to cross check their information with the service before going public on issues, so as not to feed the public with lies and cause disaffection to the service.
If this is the neglect the Daily Guide is talking about then, much is demanded of them as a media house and we hope they will learn from their mistakes and not do the bidding of their paymasters without verifying their facts
