Nana Addo urges Ghanains to register to vote

The Flagbearer of the NPP for the 2012 general election, Nana Akuffo Ado, has advised Ghanaians especially those above the age of 18 to register when the Electoral Commission (EC) begins the voter registration exercise.

He explained that the exercise “is new because names in the old voter’s register will not be valid anymore for the 2012 general election. Nana Akufo Addo was addressing enthusiastic supporters of the party in the Sunyani East Constituency on his third day Listening tour of the Brong-Ahafo region.

“Those who have attained 18 years and above should all register when the exercise begins”, the flag bearer stated.

Nana Akufo Addo indicated that the education at the second cycle level was still a priority area for him as he indicated during the 2008 electioneering campaign. The healthy, cheerful looking flagbearer was accompanied by the MP for Sunyani East, Mr. Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh, the Regional chairman, Asomah Cheremeh, the regional Organiser, Yaw Dabie, and other national campaign executives. Towns and villages toured included, Atronie, Yawsaekrom, Antwikrom, Wawasua among others. In Sunyani, Nana Akuffo Addo received a rousing welcome, bringing commercial activities to a standstill because everybody wanted to shake hands with him. It was simply a sight to behold as the NPP flagbearer walked through the streets of Sunyani before entering the market center. Almost every taxi cab in the city temporarily suspended work and joined the fun.

“This is typical of former president Kuffour during his days as flagbearer”, remarked a 67-year old party supporter who looked satisfied with what he saw of Nana Addo. At the market center, Nana Addo was mobbed and one could feel the heat of the elephant returning home. Later in the evening, Nana Addo addressed students of the Sunyani polytechnic where he urged them to spread the good news about the NPP to the electorate while ensuring that everybody registered to enable them vote massively for the NPP in the 2012 general elections.
