Ghana wins first gold at All Africa Games

Ghana won its first gold medal at the 2011 All Africa Games underway in Maputo, Mozambique; courtesy disabled athlete Ajara Mohammed on Monday.

Ajara won the 1500m of the Paralympic event to confirm her status as the best in the long distance.

The disabled athlete also won gold in the same event at the 2007 edition in Algiers, Algeria.

The feat is Ghana’s first ever gold at the 10th edition of the quadrennial multisport event.

Compatriot Anita Fodjour won bronze in the same event.
