EPA TO CHECK NOISE IN FACTORIES AT TEMA.

The Environmental Protection agency (EPA) is taking measures to check excessive noise in factories and industrial establishments at Tema, Mr. Philip Acquah, Senior Operations Officer of the Inspectorate Division of the EPA announced at Tema on Wednesday.

He said this is in accordance with the regulation on noise level in industrial sectors as contained in Act 409 of 1994 which required that all industrial concerns should prepare an environment management programme.

Speaking on 'industrial growth and the spectre of occupational hazards',Dr. Kwabena Addison, medical director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) called on employers and management staff of industrial establishments to provide safety measures to protect the health of their workers.

To ensure that these workers were in good healthy conditions, he stressed the need for industrial workers to be subjected to periodic medical examination.
