NPP did not purchase single fire tender

....in 8 years stay in office? B/A Fire Officer declares

The Brong Ahafo Regional Fire Officer, ACFO Paul Opoku has said that the NPP administration did not purchase even only a single fire tender in their eight years stay in Office and hailed maximum praise the NDC government for exhibiting high sense of commitment in ensuring GFS get more logistics.

According to the Regional Fire Officer, the NPP government did very little in equipping fire service adding that most fire tenders procured in the NDC administration in 1999 were let to expire without proper care and maintenance.

Commissioning a brand new fire tender for the Techiman municipality Assistance Chief Fire Officer, Paul Opoku commended the NDC government for showing commitment to GFS with the provision massive equipments.

The Vice President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama who did the official commissioning announced that, the government has secured funding to acquire 700 police vehicles aimed at revamping the Ghana police service to ensure quality policing.

He said the police vehicles will come alongside with bullet proof and communication gadgets to help the police service to be able do their duties as policemen and to curb arm robbery and other crimes in the country.

The vice president was accompanied by the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, MP for Techiman South Addai Simons and the Municipal Chief Executive Alex kyeremeh

Mr. John Dramani Mahama stressed that government is procuring additional 27 fire tenders to be distributed to other districts and Techiman stand the chance of getting another one and other fire fighting equipments such as gas mast.

On his part, the Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Council Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV who chaired the occasion could not hide his great joy danced to the tune of gospel music to show his appreciation to the vice president, commended the government for coming to their aid.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw lamented on the past IGP Nana Owusu nsia promised of GH10, 000 to be used for the building of a police barracks in Techiman but did not fulfill his promise. He therefore appealed to the government for the provision of Police Barracks.
