Equatorial Guinea lauds Ghana's diversified, stable economy

From Andy Fosu, A GNA Special Correspondent in Equatorial Guinea

Malabo, Nov. 23, GNA - Mr Gregorio Boho Camo, the Equatorial Guinea President of the Bioko Chambers of Commerce, Agriculture and Forestry, has lauded Ghana's

diversified and stable economy, saying his country needed to

imitate Ghana to develop her other sectors. He said Ghana had great business potentials and rich

experience in diversification that Equatorial Guinea could learn

from to develop its economy and to wean it off sole dependency

on oil. Mr Camo made the remarks on Monday at a Business Forum

organised to receive Ghanaian business delegates attending the

third Solo Exhibition of Made in Ghana goods in Malabo, the

country's capital. He described Equatorial Guinea as a country that was equally

competitive and held business prospects for the Ghanaian

business community both home and abroad. Mr Camo commended Ghana for the long-standing bilateral

relations and expressed optimism that it would continue. He also extolled the Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC)

for organising another exhibition in their country. Mr William Ntow Boahene, Ghana's Ambassador to the

country noted that 2010 had witnessed positive events for both

countries citing the holding of the third Session of the Ghana-

Equatorial Guinea Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation in

Accra. President John Evans Atta Mills made a historic State visit to

Equatorial Guinea in May this year with a reciprocal visit by

President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to Ghana in September. Mr Boahen said: "The trade agreement signed between the two

countries in 2004 has been reviewed and a joint trade committee

will be set up to ensure effective implementation of the agreement". He expressed the hope that the exhibition would promote and

enhance trade relations between both countries. "There is no doubt that the opportunities for mutually beneficial

cooperation between our two countries are enormous. It is our

fervent hope that the fruitful cooperation between Ghana and

Equatorial Guinea will become a model and show-case for South

-South Cooperation," he said. Mr Kwadwo Owusu Agyemang, Chief Executive Officer of

GEPC said the purpose of the exhibition was to show-case Ghana

and its products to the country and the rest of the world. He called on the citizenry to patronise the exhibition. Mr Agyemang asked for reciprocal exhibition in Ghana.
