CART donates education materials to Wa schools

Sing, (U/W), Oct. 22, GNA - Christian Africa Relief Trust, (CART) an international education support organisation based in the United Kingdom, has donated a 40 feet container of educational materials to be distributed among 58 basic schools in the Wa Municipality. The items, which include desktop computers, cupboards, chairs, hammers, boxes, dolls and walking sticks, were donated to the Wa School Management Committee/Parents Teacher Association (SMC/PTA) Coalition. Presenting some of the items to the Sing Community PTA members, Madam Ruby Yaap, Wa Municipal Community Advocacy Support Officer, said the items were meant for the kindergarten, primary and Junior High Schools (JHS).

She urged the teachers to ensure that the students put the items to good use to enable them to derive the maximum benefit. Madam Yaap pointed out that CART would be happy to hear that the items it donated were helping to raise educational standards in the Wa Municipality and called on the teachers and the PTA to collaborate effectively to ensure the judicious use of the materials. Mr. Issahaku Seidu, the PTA Chairman, thanked CART for donation and promised that they would intensify monitoring to make sure that the items were used for the benefit of the children. He said the PTA would work hard to connect the school to electricity to enable the teachers to use the computers to teach. Mr. Imoro Mahama, an Official from the Wa Municipal Education Directorate, commended the community for putting up six rooms to accommodate their teachers.

He reiterated that the items were meant to help raise the standards of education in the community and urged parents to give their children the necessary support to enable them to pursue their education to the highest level.

Two Officials from Comic Relief, an international organisation, also based in the UK, were also there to observe and interact with members of the Coalition and to identify areas they could offer their support.
