If Kuffuor hadn't redenominated the Cedi by knocking off three zeros, the Cedi today would have been exchanged at 13,000 six hundred Cedis per One Dollar. Nigeria never engage in redenomination ever and so remains in its weaken state with the Dollar with the three zeros intact. The 13.60 Cedi rate with Dollar is unrealistic and its fake.

In simple, basic economics, currency re-denomination is never easy and it's not a quick and permanent fix for hyperinflation. Nigeria is wise not to have re-denominated the naira and I doubt they ever will because they see the true monetary value or worth of their currency. Re-denomination creates a perception of currency stability..There's actually no real economic change as it is only reactionary and does not address the roof cause of economic instability by just Knocking off three zeros. Add three zeros to whatever the Cedis is exchanging for today against the USD and you'll get the true value of the Cedis. That will be about 13,600 to $1. Now that's a lot to be carrying around for a dollar. Same thing with a bottle of water. Just add three zeros. You however shouldn't have to carry all those bank notes just to buy a drink, and that's one of the reasons those three zeros were knocked off from the Cedis - to create a sense of worth.

Well I think there's something positive happening with the Nigerian economy of late. The currency value is getting strengthened, diesel price has fallen to some level, fuel may likely come down too in the next few weeks all due to the start of production in Dangote refinery. Money for importation of fuel could be save to fund the forex thereby boast the currency value. There's some sense in this approach
