Glorious Vision Orphanage

Agona Swedru, Aug 22, GNA - The Glorious Vision Orphanage (GLOVO), a non- governmental Organization at Agona Swedru has presented assorted relief items valued at GHC10,000 to the flood victims at Agona Swedru.

The items include used clothing, wax prints, foot wear, 50 bags of ladies and children's dresses and 20 bags of sachet water.

Mr Williams Yirenkyi, Executive Director of GLOVO, who made the presentation, said the organization felt devastated when the disaster struck Agona Swedru and Nyakrom on June 20.

He said GLOVO was mobilizing more items to support the victims who have been displaced and needed urgent assistance to survive.

Mr Yirenkyi stated that the organization was supporting more than 60 streets children, some of whom were orphans, disabled or vulnerable, in the areas of education, health and shelter.

The Executive Director said the children were picked from Agona Swedru, Agona Bobikuma and other towns in the Agona East District.

He said the GLOVO would provide uniforms, bags and other educational materials to over 20 pupils when school re-opens to promote their education.

Nana Kobina Botwe II, Swedruhene, who received the items, thanked the NGO for the gesture and urged others to emulate it.

He cautioned against the diversion of the relief items and urged the assembly members in the affected communities to ensure equitable distribution of the items.

Nana Botwe called on local and foreign donors as well as corporate bodies to go to the aid of the victims.

Some of the victims are still living at the Swedru Town Hall, the Swedru Ahmadiyya Primary and Junior High School, and other schools in Gomoa Afransi, Gomoa Achiase and they need to be resettled.
