American Chamber of Commerce assesses impact of businesses in Ghana

Accra, June 18, GNA - Ghana Chapter of American Chamber of Commerce (ACC), is to assess and evaluate the impact of American businesses in the

Ghanaian economy.

The assessment began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understandi ng between ACC and Imani Centre for Policy and Education in Accra on Friday. Madam Mona Boyd, President of ACC said, the assessment would enable the chamber to know the impact of American businesses on the Ghanaian economy .. She said American businesses had not only invested in the Ghanaian economy but also served as an avenue to employ more Ghanaians. Madam Boyd noted that the assessment would assist the businesses to reposition themselves to improve on their services and products. She said it is important to make the impact assessment because more businesses are being established in Ghana hence the need to know whether they are doing well or not.

Mr Franklin Cudjoe, Executive Director of Imani Centre said manageme nt was happy to participate in the impact assessment project and expressed t he hope that it would bring good results.

Mr Leslie Nelson, Country Director of General Electric, a US Multi-national Company said American businesses had made significant improvement in the energy sector. He said management is focusing on the agricultural sector to improve on the country's Gross Domestic Product as well as local partnership with skills training.
