I Will Create Jobs for Ghanaians - Alan

MR. JOHN Kwadwo Alan Kyeremanten, one of the leading contenders in the NPP Presidential race has observed that the competition for the flag bearer of the party is not about who has experience or knowledge in governance and human rights, but rather one's ability to solve the immediate and pressing needs of Ghanaians.

Stressing that unemployment and poverty are the major predicaments of the Ghanaian voter, for which reason they would want to participate in the electoral process, the former Trade and Industry Minister said Ghanaians could count on his expertise and competence in making sure their choices to have their problems resolved.

Addressing delegates in Kumasi, as part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Kyerematen openly admitted that even though he might not be well-versed in matters of governance and human rights, his major concern was to address the physical and psychological needs of Ghanaians, which undoubtedly are the issues of job and money.

"Ghanaians are not interested in who has knowledge or experience in governance and human rights, what they want are the solutions to their problems and what can be done to resolve them; ask every Ghanaian about his major problem and see if governance or human right is part of it," he observed.

According to the former Minister, who is credited with the introduction of the defunct Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) under former President Kufuor's administration, the average citizen would continue to wail and grumble until he or she is assured of good job and the financial security to be able to take care of his or her family.

Mr. Kyerematen, popularly known as "Alan Cash", stated that he has proven beyond doubt, during his tenure as the Trade and Industry Minister that he has the capacity to change the destiny of this country when given the opportunity.

He said the chances of the NPP for the 2012 elections would be adequately enhanced if he was elected to lead the party, stressing that delegates must not gamble with the fortunes of the party, come the 2012 elections.

The NPP Presidential aspirant cautioned the delegates to be circumspect with their decision because they hold the key to the success or otherwise of the party.

"You should know that supporters of the party will hold you, the delegates, responsible for whatever decision you take; you have the chance to determine which way the party will go in future, and I will encourage you to make the right choice, which is no other than the one and only Alan Kyerematen."

Stressing the need for peace and unity in the party, Mr. Kyerematen said he had amply demonstrated his commitment towards peace and stability within the party, citing for example, his decision to step down for his main opponent, Nana Akufo- Addo, during the 2007 congress.

Other party stalwarts who are accompanying the flag bearer aspirant on his tour include the former Presidential Press Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, former Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, MP for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah and ex-MP for Kwadaso, Mrs. Josephine Hilda Addo.
