WANAP calls for peace in Bawku Municipality

Accra, April 2, GNA - The West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANAP), has expressed concern about on-going developments and violence in the Bawku Municipality. A statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Bombade, Executive Director of WANAP, appealed to all stakeholders in the Bawku peace process to refrain from any acts or conduct that would heighten the violence and its attendant consequences.

It said that "It is regrettable that these unfortunate events are coming after a successful consultation in Kumasi, during which all stakeholders committed themselves to sustain dialogue, build trust, and jointly work towards maintaining peace in Bawku." The statement promised that the Network and its partners in civil society and other agencies would continue to support the ongoing dialogue initiatives that remained the best alternative in the search for lasting peace in Bawku.

It asked that all contentious issues should be brought to the next round of dialogue for consultation and mutual understanding to ensure lasting peace in Bawku. 2 April 10 Attention recipients, item 02 ends fist cast.
