NDC is poised to win 2012 elections - Deputy Minister

Wa, Nov.24, GNA - Mr. Caesar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was poised to win the 2012 elections and urged the newly elected constituency executives of the party to see that as a challenge and work towards its achievement.

He said the constituency election was therefore all about getting a formidable team to

work towards the 2012 elections. "We are not conducting the elections to oust anybody of any position; we want to elect

people to ensure that the NDC wins power to continue to carry out its development agenda

to benefit the people," he said. Mr. Kale was addressing Lawra/Nandom constituency delegates' conference of the NDC

at Lawra. He said the elections was not a do or die affair, and called on supporters and

sympathizers of the party to remain united and work together in the interest of the NDC. Mr. Kale reminded the supporters and executives of the NDC in the Lawra/Nandom

constituency about the task ahead to win back the seat they lost to the NPP. "The old executives of the party had worked hard to win the elections for the NDC in

2008, it is now left to the new executives to also win the 2012 elections for the party, and this

task must be achieved at all cost," he said. Mr. Kale warned supporters of the party to be disciplined and law abiding, and avoid

engaging in negative activities that has the tendency of damaging the good reputation of the

NDC and its leaderships. He said the regional executives were aware that some people in the opposition had started

going round the communities, asking supporters what the NDC had done for them, in its 10

months rule. The attempts by the opposition people should not discourage anybody in the NDC,

because government was aware of their plight and would soon come out with good policies

and programmes to benefit them, he added. Alhaji Nator Naa Issahaque, Second Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC, urged former

constituency executives who had contested elections and lost, not to be discouraged, but to

collaborate with the new executives to work hard to win the 2012 elections for the NDC. He said: "whether you are an executive member or a supporter, we must see ourselves as

belonging to one family with a common goal and sense of purpose. Mr. Samson Abu, Lawra District Chief Executive said there were no camps in the NDC in

the constituency as people were alleging, noting: "Our camp is the NDC". He however warned that those who had the feeling of belonging to different camps should

know that they are not members of the NDC. The 285 delegates elected a 30 member executive with Mr. Moses Atsem as chairman,

Mr. Afandi Mahmud, vice chairman and Mr. Francis Kokoih, Secretary, while Mr. Dominic

Ziniyel was elected unopposed as vice secretary. Mr. Nicholas Naazie took the post of constituency organiser, Madam Abena Asuma,

women organiser, and Mr. Adams Mohazu and Mr. Paul B. Dery took the Propaganda and

Youth organiser positions respectively. Mr. Nyolee A. Ament was elected unopposed as deputy organiser, Mr. Benjamin Boro,

Treasurer, Mr. Jafaru Mohammed, deputy treasurer, and Mr. Atare A. Abdul-Rashid, deputy

secretary. Eight others were also elected as members of the executives. Mr. Atsem on behalf of the new executives assured the NDC of victory in the 2012

elections in the constituency.
