Housewife before court for forcing stepson to eat faeces

Kumasi, October 26, GNA - A 28 year-old housewife accused of beating and forcing her seven-year old stepson to eat his own faeces, has been jailed 12 months by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

The sentence is in respect of the assault offence, which Adwoa Pinamang admitted.

The court ordered that she should be brought back on November 6, to stand trial for the other charge relating to the faeces she compelled the boy to eat.

The father of the victim, whose name was not given, is on the run. Police Chief Inspector Collins Nana Fosu told the Court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that Pinamang together with the husband have been staying with the young boy for the past eight months at Akropong near Kumasi.

The victim's mother, Afua Tawiah, a farmer, also resides in the same community.

Chief Inspector Fosu said on the morning of October 19, Pinamang found that the boy had not only wet his bed, but had also defecated on the sheet. She got angry, pounced on the boy and gave him severe beating leading to cuts and laceration all over the body. His face also got swollen. He said in her fury, Pinamang ordered the boy to eat his faeces. A witness in the case informed the biological mother of the boy who made a complaint to the Akropong police.
